Over the next three days, I have some fantastic new recovery gear products for you that just arrived.

Today is about unlocking low back pain, something I know too much about. I like the two items below as they will help you prevent low back pain, not just treat it.

To get ahead of low back pain, you need to target two areas: your Psoas on the front and your hamstring on the back.

Psoas: The Hip Hook

I was excited to try the Hip Hook to put pressure on my Psoas, and wow, it worked.

Contrary to popular belief, stretching alone won’t fix a tight psoas. The Hip Hook eliminates tightness at the core of the hip flexor and quickly reduces strain in the legs, hips, and lower back. Its unique angle and pressure are explicitly built to address the root cause of your pain, that pesky iliacus muscle.

Laying down, you can place the “hook” adjacent to the top of your hip bone and will likely find the right spot. Typically, it’s just medial to the top of your hip. Manipulate the lever and your weight to target your iliacus, and BOOM!

The secret to hip hook over other psoas devices is that you can control the pressure. Many athletes find the fixed pressure devices either are too much pressure or too little. Hip Hook fixes that.

Hamstring: Castleflexx

This is the most luxurious and beautifully built stretching device ever made. After indoor training, spend 2 to 4 minutes immediately stretching to loosen your posterior chain, which is notoriously tight on runners and cyclists. This means your hamstrings and calves.

Couldn’t you just use a rope or a band? You could, but you won’t get the deep stretch Castelflexx provides. It works because your heel goes into this cup in the strap, and it flexes your foot during the stretch, which amplifies it 5x more for me and ensures you are stretching your fascia from hip to foot.

I was dubious when I first saw the Castleflexx due to the price, but I’ve used mine 3 to 4 times every week since then. Everyone I recommend it to says the same thing. It feels so good that they stick with it, and it was worth the investment.

Travel & The Gym
The Hip Hook and the Castelflexx are super compact and easy to pack for travel or going to the gym.

If you want the trifecta of back gear, check out the Thorex, which is better than any foam roller for your back.

Here’s to overcoming low back pain once and for all!
