What did you have for breakfast this morning?
I find that breakfast can often times be challenging for athletes, you want something that is going to fill you up without making you want to have a nap.
Today, I want to share with you my experience with the Kyoku Breakfast Shake. It has completely changed how I approach my breakfast routine and so far every elite athlete I’ve had start using Kyoku has loved it and is still using it.
The first thing is taste. Kyoku gets many of its great benefits from being plant-based, but usually this leaves something to be desired in the flavor department. Not with Kyoku. I almost guarantee the first thing you will say after trying is:
“Oh, this actually tastes really good.”
Almost everyone says this after they try it. It has rich organic vanilla with coconut cream flavoring that you will love.
You will love Kyoku because it provides you hour after hour of energy with a very low rise in insulin (so a slow energy burn without a spike and crash). Whether you are drinking it before a long workout or a marathon work day, it will keep you full, topped up with protein, and focused.
A few things to know about Kyoku:
It has 16 Superfoods in the formula, all plant-based and picked explicitly for the needs of athletes.
Greens: Broccoli, Spinach, Kale, Green Pepper
Carbs & Protein: Chickpea, Peas, Brown Rice, Hemp Seeds, Sweet Potatoes, and Chia Seeds
Performance: Black Pepper, Beet Root, Ashwagandha
Recovery: Turmeric, Tart Cherry, Quercetin from Apples
The Kyoku team spared no expense in the formulation, it is not cheap, but if you want to start your day right, a few dollars shouldn’t stop you from getting the best nutrition. Kyoku is a real meal, unlike Athletic Greens which has only 50 calories, Kyoku has 220 calories, 22g of carbohydrates, and 22g of protein.
How to make it
The best way to make a Kyoku shake is to take 16oz of non-dairy milk like Oat or Almond milk, add a handful of ice, 4 to 6 oz of water, and blend.
For variety, try blending it with a shot of espresso, berries, almond butter, or a banana. My favorite is with a banana.
When to drink Kyoku?
While breakfast is the perfect time for me, Dr. Kevin Sprouse (EF Pro Cycling Team Doctor) uses it for lunch, especially while he is at the Tour traveling stage to stage.
